Things To Do In The Olympic Park: Find The Bench Facts

Even on the busiest days, the waterways in the Olympic Park remain calm and tranquil. Generously spaced out benches offer plenty of opportunities for relaxing by the rivers and admiring the foliage. But look closely. Many of the seats have small plaques containing words of wisdom or trivia.

The series is called Fantastic Factology and is part of the Art in the Park initiative. Each of the messages was gathered through a series of local public workshops or the project website. According to the official blurb, they are ”Statements that will excite, bewilder, inform and inspire for years to come”.

Fifty are dotted around the Park, and we show just six above. Feel free to share your favourites below.

Can we visit the park and gardens after the games are over?

Nope. It’s closed for a year while they redevelop everything. The northern half opens in a year’s time, the southern section will take longer, perhaps two years. The Orbit might be kept open, but that’s still undecided.
