Liberty Festival celebrates its tenth anniversary with three days of free performance and outdoor arts from the country's best deaf and disabled artists whilst the Paralympics goes on around them.
Saturday 1 September
Comedian Francesca Martinez hosts family friendly Liberty celebrations outside the National Theatre with circus, dance, music and performance art from 1pm.
At the BFI watch short films by disabled filmmakers from 12.30 (free but reserve your seat).
The Southbank Centre puts on Cabaret in the Clore Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall with top turns from Peckham's Liz Bentley, US singer songwriter Jonny Crescendo, sign song artist Caroline Parker; 'inspired' comedian Laurence Clark; funk diva Minika Green; straight talking from Ruby Wax and a big music finale. The show starts at 7.30pm but there will also be DJs and live art on the riverside from 1pm in the afternoon.
Sunday 2 September
The party moves to Trafalgar Square where the Paralympics will be live on the Big Screen all day. The performance stage opens at 1pm with Sign Mark, Finland’s sign song superstar, a musical set from Reasons to be Cheerful, amazing circus people Graeae, blockbuster theatre show and singer Lizzie Emeh.
Monday 3 September
Take a picnic to Potters Fields to watch the Paralympics and listen to Liberty's music stage from 2-5pm.
Liberty Festival takes place 1-3 September. Free entry to all venues and performances.
