Preview: King’s Cross Ice Cream Festival

Granary Square plays host to the King’s Cross Ice Cream Festival this weekend. As well as the opportunity to sample frozen treats, visitors can also learn how to make ice cream, learn the history of ice cream in London, play with liquid nitrogen flasks, and quiz vendors about their secrets. Actual, real cows will also be on hoof, in case anyone wants to try milking.

The area at the back of King’s Cross keeps teasing us back with regular live events and the much-vaunted eat.st street food market. Considering the area is currently London’s biggest building site, the estate management are playing a blinder.

King’s Cross Ice Cream Festival, 1-2 September 2012, 11am-6pm. Entrance is free.

So is Granary Square. It was only created earlier this year. To find it, head to the back of King’s Cross station, down the road between King’s Cross and St Pancras. There you’ll find a new walkway called King’s Boulevard, which leads to Granary Square, north of the canal.
