Tonight: Science Museum Lates And The Science Of Sport

The monthly Science Museum's Lates evening is always worth a punt. The heady mix of technology, live entertainment, booze in the galleries and no kids makes for a memorable and cheap night out. Tonight's late opening is themed around the science of sport (for reasons we don't need to explain). Special events include an in-house sports day in which visitors can compete. Biomechanics scientists explain the tech that helps monitor athletes' bones. Someone else explains the spin on a ping pong ball. And Professor John D Barrow discusses the science behind sprinting. Plus, the usual mix of science quiz, speed dating, silent disco and live music.

Science Museum Lates runs from 6.45pm to 10pm on 25 July and entrance is free.
