Ticket Alert: The XX, Marilyn Manson, Elbow And More

The XXIf you can manage to tear yourself away from the sun (the blazing one in the sky, not the newspaper) then here's our pick of gigs on sale this week. Tickets to these should be available from 9am on Friday:

Enigmatic, stripped-back Mercury Prize winners The XX recently revealed a new song, Angels, which picks up roughly where their beautiful first album left off. They'll play a launch show for their second album on 10 September at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. Tickets £22.50 + bf. This one will sell out super-fast.

Scottish singer-songwriter Amy MacDonald pushed Radiohead off the top of the album charts with her first record, back in 2007. Her poppy songs are full of positivity, and she'll play the Royal Festival Hall on 6 November. Tickets from £22.50 + bf.

Fancy something a little heavier? Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson hit town with their Twins of Evil world tour, playing The O2 on 26 November. Apparently you should expect 'debauchery, theatrics, ghoulish imagery, and a full-on assault of all the senses'. Tickets from £30 + bf.

Also at The O2 on 2 December, Elbow really need no introduction. After a slow-burning career, arenas are the natural home of these likable Mancunians. Tickets £32.50 + bf.

Finally, Little Angels are a bunch of reformed hard rockers who played Download Festival earlier in the year. See them at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on 16 December. Tickets £20 + bf.

Also booking this week: Rick Astley, Dodgy, Courtney Pine... and don't forget that to be in with a chance of seeing Blur at the 100 Club this time next week, there's a competition you need to enter between 9am and 6pm on 1 August.
