The Olympics isn't the only sporting gig in town. On 25 August, Stoke Newington's West Reservoir will host an open water 'aquathlon' event, which anyone can sign up for. The Hackney Splash and Dash involves a bit of running and a bit of swimming. You can choose between a 1.5km swim followed by a 10km run, or a 750m swim and a 5km run.
The event, the first of its kind at the reservoir, is organised by Capital Tri, a Hackney-based sports events company, in conjunction with London Fields Triathlon Club. Places cost £26 or £36 (plus wetsuit hire) and can be booked by here.
