We may be just a little over 24 hours away from the opening ceremony, but here's a glimpse at how parts of the Olympic Park will look long after the athletes have departed and the bunting torn down.

The designs above are for South Plaza, located in the southern area of what will be known as Queen Elizabeth Park. South Plaza comprises a 28-ha area covering the business end of the site, namely the Aquatic Centre, the Olympic Stadium and the Orbit. The greenery-thronged space will lead visitors into various outdoor "rooms", including a fountain labyrinth, a climbing wall and a carousel. Judging by the images visitors will also receive a pair of special Photoshop-enabled glasses to make everything seem weirdly colour-saturated.

South Plaza will open to the public in 2014. The northern end of the Park is scheduled to open in 2013.
