London 2012 Lowdown: Tuesday 31 July


During the London 2012 Games we'll bring you a daily heads-up on what's happening where, including sporting and cultural events, transport and weather.

Top things to see and do

  • See exhibitions, film screenings and book signings at The Royal Institute of British Architects HQ, part of their regular Last Tuesday evening. At 66 Portland Place (6-10pm, free).
  • Take a guided tour of Mansion House (2pm, £6, £4 conc.)
  • See a model of the Olympic Park made of LEGO at the Danish Village in St Katharine Docks (11am-11pm until 12 August, free).
  • Go hat-spotting around London.
  • Interested in the mail? Visit The Post Office in Pictures exhibition at the British Museum, which showcases iconic photographic images from the Royal Mail Archive (free).
  • Fancy wandering around a labyrinth of books? aMAZEme at the Southbank Centre opens today (part of London 2012 Festival, free).

Transport hotspots

8am The Central Line is currently suspended between Woodford/Newbury Park due to a fire alert, hence, you can't use it to get to the Olympic Park. Severe delays to the rest of the line.
