Top things to see and do

Transport hotspots

The Men’s Cycle Road Race means London road closures from early morning. The Race starts and finishes in the Mall via Fulham, Putney, Richmond, Hampton Court, Kingston and parts of Surrey. Avoid tube stations along the route and definitely avoid driving into town.

Events will also be taking place at the Olympic Park ExCeL, North Greenwich Arena, Greenwich Park, Royal Artillery Barracks, Horse Guards Parade, Earls Court, The Mall, Lord’s Cricket Ground, Wimbledon and Wembley Arena.

The busiest times across the network will be 8am-10am, 12-2pm and 4-7pm. Check out Transport for London's 'heat maps' for the busiest stations on any given day and check before you travel.

Sport highlights

  • 9.50am: Cycling, Men's Road Race (watch out for Wiggins), The Mall. Brief guide.

See BBC Sport for full details of all events.

Weather

Most of the day it will be dry and sunny, however there's a chance of showers so pack a brolly or a waterproof if you're heading out to watch the cycling. Happily, it will be cooler and fresher than recently - good news for spectators. Min. 13, max. 22 degrees.
