Do you remember the Diamond Jubilee like it was just yesterday, or is it all but a distant memory of peering between heads of other onlookers to catch a glimpse of the Queen as she sailed down the river?

Mike Healey has chosen to commemorate it by producing a set of paintings that focus on the key moments. These include the river pageant and the fireworks over Buckingham Palace painted in his own impressionistic and energetic style.

Healey isn't just content to capture the majesty of the Jubilee. These paintings, currently hanging in the Thompson gallery, are merely a prelude to his larger show which opens in August. It promises to contain more of his sweeping British landscapes and plenty of his captivating portraits.

Mike Healey: Paintings of the Queen's Jubilee is currently on at Thompson's Gallery, 15 New Cavendish St, W1G 9UB and will go on to form part of his larger collection that will be on display from 8 August-9 September.

For more Queenie goodness check out the exhibition dedicated to portraits of her at the National Portrait Gallery.
