Sporadically, we've seen some fine weather over the last two weeks. In hopeful anticipation of some more, this week's edition of The Friday Photos looks at a part of London that feels like beautifully peaceful when the sun shines — our man-made waterways.

Perhaps it is the abundance of greenery or the snail's pace of travelling on the water, but life just seems sweeter around the canals. This selection shows that warmth in its mild glory, from sun-dappled Little Venice and Angel to the glorious glare of the Grand Union canal in the opening shot. So, when the weather improves, you know where to head.
