Preview: Return Of The Summer Pop-Up Cinema

Outdoor cinema specialists, Pop Up Screens, are back again this summer. Assuming the weather gets better, Londoners can avoid those rush-hour Olympic crowds at the tube stations.

The film schedule kicks off on Friday 6 July. It has something for everyone and includes classics such Labyrinth, Anchorman, Zoolander, The Big Lebowski, Fight Club, Leon and Back to the Future.

Throughout the summer, the super-size screen will visit some of the capitals best-loved parks in Hammersmith, Morden, Acton, Lewisham, Fulham and Kilburn with pre-film entertainment provided by stand-up comedian Helen Arney, poet Dan Simpson and digital art from the Live Live Project.

On the refreshment front, there will be popcorn, supplied by London Kettle Popcorn, and a fully stocked bar serving craft beer from Brewdog and Freedom Breweries and wine. For those who like their burgers on the wild side, there will be the chance to sample buffalo, ostrich, springbok, wild boar and wildebeest from Tuckers Exotic Meat Shack.

Check out the Pop-Up Screens website for full listings. Tickets can be purchased in advance for £8, or a weekender pass to see all three films at any one location will set you back £20, with a bumper season ticket available for only £50 — that’s all 21 films for just £2.38 per movie.
