Comedy Preview: Greenwich Comedy Festival

This year's Greenwich Comedy Festival is a bit earlier than usual, happening in July rather than September (we assume it's Olympics related). What hasn't changed is their ability to tempt great acts to appear in tents at the Royal Naval College grounds.

Usually found in cavernous spaces like the Hammersmith Apollo, Dylan Moran (pictured), Stephen K Amos, Reginald D Hunter and Sean Lock headline various nights, and Isy Suttie, Jerry Sadowitz, Robin Ince, Sean Hughes, John Shuttleworth and Rich Hall perform solo shows. The line-up features a nice mix of big names, up and comers (Ed Gamble, Josh Widdicombe, Chris Ramsey) with more offbeat comics (Tim Key, Frisky and Mannish, Doc Brown).

It's a lovely setting, next to the Thames with live music, beer from local brewers Meantime and street food to snack on. Lower priced tickets for some of the shows have already gone, so get in quickly for your favourite line-up: we think the Sunday looks good, with Mark Watson, David O'Doherty, Seann Walsh and Elis James.

The Greenwich Comedy Festival runs 13-20 July in front of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. Tickets cost £10-£24.50. Read our guide to watching live comedy in London.
