The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the winners of its annual awards for architectural excellence, with a number of new London projects among them.

Taking the headline plaudits is the Olympic Stadium, the second Games project to be be recognised by the RIBA following the Velodrome last year. Some other key London-centric projects on the list include the Exhibition Road shared-surface scheme, the Rothchild Bank's new City office New Court, the Bermondsey branch of the White Cube gallery, the Central Saint Martins within the Granary Building at King's Cross and St Pancras Chambers. You can browse through the capital's 14 winners on the RIBA website.

Of the 50 buildings across Britain and nine in the EU by UK-based practises, six will be shortlisted for the Stirling prize later this year. And if 59 seems a particularly big longlist, consider that last year's stretched to over 100 buildings, with the reduction aimed at tightening up a process that has been criticised for being over-keen on rewarding mediocre projects.
