Things To Do In London On The Cheap: 9-15 April

Easter Monday: Get to Greenwich for the traditional Easter Monday chair lifting with Blackheath Morris Men from 11am (free).

Find Steampunk, squids and Stitch London in the Gallery at Foyles from 6.30-8.30pm (free but reserve your place).

Tuesday: Ambit Magazine hosts poetry and prose readings at the Betsey Trotwood, Farringdon from 7pm (free entry, donations welcome).

Wednesday: The fabulous Brassroots gig at Rich Mix for the first London gig of the year from 7.30pm (free).

Thursday: Mermaids and pirates are considered as South East London Folklore Society look into Thameslore, upstairs at the Old Kings Head, Borough High Street from 8pm - all welcome (£2.50).

Vintage Rocks at Highgate's Boogaloo with a vintage fashion show, market, rock 'n' roll and Djs frmo 8pm till late (£3).

Friday: Enjoy music, a guided tour and conversation about the current exhibition at The National Gallery, open till 9pm (free).

Saturday: Get your ass kicked by a tranny working out with Dragersize - part of the Fringe Film Festival - at Market Sports, Bateman's Row at 2pm. Or Vogue from 4pm (£5). Then recover watching shorts from 5pm (free).

Sunday: Join the Richmond Park gardeners for a guided walk round the Isabella Plantation from 11am (free).

Take the kids to see The Second Shepherd's Play: A medieval mystery play for thoroughly modern children a New Diorama Theatre - until Friday 20 April at 1.30pm (tickets £5).
