Preview: Singalong Oliver! @ The Southbank Centre

Londonist would like to apologise for any earworm infections resulting from the following article:

Consider yourself a singer? Then get down to the Southbank Centre next week where, as part of a week-long Chorus festival, you can join in a 2,000-voice choir to singalong to the brilliant film version of Lionel Bart’s multi-Oscar-winning film Oliver!

I shall scream, you might think… your singing voice not up to scratch? Well, for three nights in the run-up to the big Saturday finale, you can join in Choral Clubs at the same venue, designed by Voicelab’s Mary King to get you ready to join in the Oom-Pah-Pahs with gusto. The choral clubs are free, so you won’t have to pick a pocket or two to get there…

It’s a fine life for those of you with Dickensian costumes in the back of your wardrobe, as dressing up is encouraged on the Saturday night. Don’t want to go the whole hog with urchin boots and full Victoriana? That’s your funeral – there are prizes for the best fancy dress.

We know what you’re thinking: I’d do anything for a ticket. Well, they cost £15, and are available here. They’re going fast, so don’t spend too long reviewing the situation before deciding who will buy...

Singalong Oliver is at the Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road, London SE1 on Saturday 5 May at 7pm Tickets cost £15 for adults with limited concessions at 50% off. The Choral Clubs are Monday 30 April to Wednesday 2 May. Visit ticketing.southbankcentre.co.uk/singalong-oliver to find out more.
