Where to find funny this week
Sunday: Haul yourself – and your groaning, hot-cross bun and chocolate stuffed stomach – to Greenwich for an Up The Creek Sunday Special with Seann Walsh, Wouter Meijs and Ed Gamble (7.30pm, £6 / £4).
Monday: Scott Capurro headlines Old Rope, one of London’s best loved new material nights, at the Phoenix. Also on the bill are Milton Jones, Carey Marx, Lucy Porter, Al Barrie, Tom Craine and Paul Myerhog. Tiffany Stevenson and Phil Nichol host; get your tickets early, this always sells out (7.30pm, £7).
Tuesday: Alternative Comedy Memorial Society makes the Vandella in Shepherds Bush its home for the night: see Miles Jupp, Josie Long, Morgan Murphy, Sam Schäfer, James Dowdeswell and more (8pm, £8).
Wednesday: Just because it’s the Easter holidays, don’t think you’re excused school. Take lessons in physics from Tom Goodliffe, PSHE from Louise Ford, biology from Daniel Cook, drama from Ed Eales-White and an as-yet undisclosed subject from Howard Read at School Night down at Ginglik. Tom McDonnell hands out detention (8pm, £8 / £6).
Thursday: There’s comedy for just one pound at the Camden Head. Catch excellent sketchers Anna + Katy and Cariad Lloyd, plus Haiste and Lawrence, Josiah Norris and Ed Eales-White, fresh from School Night, at Comedy Back Rub (7.30pm, £1).
Friday: Forget that it’s Friday 13th with a ton of options to choose from at the Soho Theatre: Keith Farnan explains how Ireland’s economy got to be so fucked (7.45pm, £12.50 / £10), Humphrey Ker is being Dymock Watson: Nazi Smasher in what must be nearing this Edinburgh winning show’s swansong (10pm, £15 / £12.50), the brilliantly sarcastic Ava Vidal explores the nature of community and responsibility (9.30pm, £12.50 / £10) and Tony Law will come at you from where you least expect it (9.45pm, £12.50 / £10).
Saturday: Sara Pascoe’s fast becoming the person telly bookers turn to when they want their token female comic. See why at Udderbelly (7.45pm, £12.50 / £11).
