Spot on promoters Wavey Tones and Hyponik have something for everyone at their awesome looking line up for Saturday. From b-boy electro to the latest footwork rhythms - if you’re not looking forward to this event you’ve got no soul (or no ticket).

Cruising over in his Mercedes roadster from California to our wet'n'windy capital in the king of electro freak the Egyptian Lover. A hip-hop pioneer from the early 80s, Egyptian Lover (Greg Broussard to his mother) has been producing supreme electro since before most of us were born. Over three decades he's released great records with even better titles - "Freak-A-Holic", "Filthy", "You're so fine", giving a hint at the lyrical concerns of the Nile's most eligible bachelor. This is electro in it's purest form, with sexy rhymes, skeletal 808 beats and hypnotic synth lines - recent collaborations with M.I.A and Jamie Jones are testament to the Pharoah’s influence.

Messrs DJ Rashad and Spinn will bring their intricate Chicago juke rhythms to the night. Since footwork’s slow permeation into dance music circles, the two producers have established themselves as kingpins of the genre. They have released a host of fine singles on Planet Mu, and recently applied their skills to a Shangaan Electro remix record. Their influence can be heard further down tonight's bill in the music of London based producer Om Unit - whose sound finds the midpoint between juke's frantic rythyms and the solid thump of UK Bass. His recent release with Machinedrum under the moniker Dream Continuum is a contender for single of the year — expect a few its juke via jungle tracks to get an airing.

Other hightlights? The masked and mysterious DJ Stingray, a stalwart of the Detroit techno scene, gets a generous two hour set to deliver some dark missives from the motor city. A live set from Brassica, the man behind last year’s behemoth of a track “Lydden Circuit”, a nostalgic rave inspired ripper with a superb video to match, and the grease-painted house demonoid Drums of Death add to a decadently rococo lineup.

Wavey Tones & Hyponik: Egyptian Lover Live, Dj Stingray, Rashad & Spinn & More at Corsica Studios, Saturday 21st April. Tickets are available here.
