Ticket Alert: Laura Marling, Garbage, Japandroids, Blood Red Shoes

One of the biggest English folk acts around, two duos worthy of closer attention and a bunch of reformed rockers. Here's our pick of gigs on sale this Friday.

At just 22 years old, Laura Marling already has three cracking albums and two Mercury nominations under her belt. And on 7 July she'll add a gig at the Royal Albert Hall to her impressive list of achievements. Tickets from £22.50 + bf, available 9am.

Apparently Fred Durst's Limp Bizkit have been hard at work on "the heaviest, most crazy metal record of all time". Can the 41-year-old angsty frontman really pull that off? Probably not, but you'll find out for sure at O2 Brixton Academy on 29 May. Tickets £29.50 + bf, from 9am.

The first new Garbage album in seven years is out in May, and the reunited alt-rockers will play O2 Brixton Academy on 1 July. Tickets £29.50 + bf, from 9am.

With a bristling, exhilirating sound, Japandroids have something of the Death From Above 1979s to them. The Canadian duo certainly make more noise than you'd expect from just two musicians, so if you fancy a bit of garage rock, see them at The Camp on 22 May. Tickets £9.50 + bf, from 9am.

Another duo with a steadily-progressing sound and growing confidence is Blood Red Shoes. Their rocky third album has garnered decent reviews and they'll be playing O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on 18 October. Tickets £13.50 + bf, from 9am.

Also booking this week: The View, Nickelback and Seth Lakeman.
