World Water Day this Thursday 22 March is a United Nations led day of awareness highlighting the plight of the millions of people around the world who do not have access to clean water or sanitation. Here’s how you can get involved:
Many water and international development charities are involved in World Water Day, including our friends at 2 Water (funding water through wine). Donate to 2 Water on World Water Day and your money will be 100% put towards building wells in Nepal and Ghana.
Wateraid have produced this video about how taps and toilets save lives for their Water Works campaign in the build up to a global summit in April, where world leaders will meet in Washington to discuss these issues. Upload photos of you using water and add your voice to their cause.
Other events here in London include a free Film Night screening documentary ‘Paraiso for Sale‘ delivered by Tourism Concern at London Metropolitan University on Holloway Road, N7 from 6pm (donations welcome).
On Friday 23 March the Ocean of Song concert happens at St John at Hackney, E5, ‘singing to raise waves of awareness and funds for WaterAid’ from 7.30pm (£7 adv. £10 on the door).
