Street Artist Olek Accused Of Littering

If you’ve wandered through the Brick Lane area of late, chances are you’ll have seen the crocheted street art of Olek, who currently has an exhibition on at Tony’s Gallery, Sclater Street. Not everyone’s a fan of the gaudy creations, however. Tower Hamlets council, in wonderfully Victorian language, classes this Brick Lane piece as “things so deposited on highways as to be a nuisance”. It’s now “under investigation” by the waste enforcement folks, and could land the artist an £80 fine for littering.

Corr…wish someone could put these on most of the objects in Damian Hursts show.

My challenge to the artist is to knit a giant notice, large enough to completely envelop the town hall :O)

I love this idea, Jean-Michel! ;-)  and maybe the wording on the giant notice could read “You are hereby informed that you are a bunch of narrow-minded jobsworths” or similar! Tee-hee!
