Partial to a ladylike tipple with some fellow females this International Woman’s Day? There’s a multitude of events on, such as whisky and (women only) wine tasting. Those who’d like a bit of networking thrown into the deal should try the City of London’s very own champagne breakfast.

If you (or that someone special) have a penchant for gorgeous make-up, what better way to spend the day than embracing your femininity and looking fabulous by indulging in the Shu Uemura exclusive makeover event at Selfridges with much-feted Global Creative Director, Kakuyasu Uchiide (who is quite the hottie, in our humble opinion).

The thinking lady is utterly spoilt for choice; the Hub Westminster and Open City London Documentary Festival is a fascinating platform of discussions on feminist discourse, sexuality and gender inequality. Those with not much time can squeeze in the Lunch Hour Lecture at UCL on the often debated concept of "Having it all — dispelling the myths about work and motherhood".

If cinema is more your style, Electra presents an intriguing Archive of Polish Experimental Film, while informative documentary Voices from the Shadows and panellists will discuss women's susceptibility to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS).

Artist lovers and poets, we’ve got you covered too. Check out the She Bop A Lula photo exhibition of icons such as the late and talented Amy Winehouse and the wonderfully extrovert Lady Gaga. International Women’s Day also sees Betty Makoni’s Poetry Book Launch, with a signed copy included in the ticket price, or you could get some friends together and venture to an all-female spoken word improv, taking place at Hoxton hangout Rich Mix as part of their Women of the World showcase. See our preview for more information.

Southbank Centre is also hosting an ambitious Women of the World Festival, featuring an impressive cast of performers and speakers, including ‘Mirth Control’ hosted by Sandi Toksvig and ‘Equals Live 2012’ with Annie Lennox.

Meanwhile, the altruistic can opt to attend an All Day Shiatsu and/or Yoga and Women's Health Talk, both at Morley College, in aid of Womankind Worldwide's programme for Afghan women.

So that’s a Champagne Breakfast, a lecture at lunch, an afternoon makeover, some pondering over photos followed by a late-night gig. Pretty sure we could fit that all in. Right?
