Preview: Uke Skywalker @ Lincoln Lounge

For fans of quirky string instruments and/or an appreciation of classic sci-fi, this may be the event you're looking for. Star Wars Day is still some weeks off but Empress of the London ukulele scene Tricity Vogue is holding her own free celebration next Tuesday at the Lincoln Lounge.

Called Uke Skywalker: Ukulele Cabaret In Space, Vogue will be joined by a motley crew of geek princess Helen Arney, clone close harmony group Dirty Martini and singers Elliot Mason, Colin Chambers and Ben Jones.

Cool handed uke players wanting to go (Han) solo can make use of the open mic spots while Vogue is encouraging all to bring their voices and ukuleles (Wookieleles?) and is looking for ideas for outer space themed singalongs. We'll be the ones down the front asking for this classic by the popular Brixton-born singer David Jones.

The venue is small so we recommend getting there earlier rather than later unless you really do want to know what it's like to be squeezed inside a ton-ton.

Our overall opinion? We've got a good feeling about this.
