Preview: Mat Ricardo's London Varieties

Fans of Graham Linehan (aka @glinner) should head east for this Thursday's Mat Ricardo's London Varieties at the Bethnal Green Working Men's Club.

After a cabaret bill headlined by top pop revisionists Frisky and Mannish, gentleman juggler Ricardo (who won a London Cabaret Award last month) will be talking down on stage to the man behind comedy classics Big Train, Father Ted and Black Books. We'll be down the front to hear what he thinks about the failed US version of his award-winning The IT Crowd and whether the success of his version of The Ladykillers will mean more stage plays and less TV in future.

The show is part of a series in which Ricardo will bring together an evening of entertainment from modern talent followed by an interview with someone who has inspired him. If the show sells out by the time you read this, the plan is for all the interviews to be recorded and released as a podcast. Last month's recording can be found here. The next two shows are on 12 April and 10 May with the entertainment and interviewee announced closer to the time.

Advance tickets can be bought here here and there's even a trailer.

Keep it tuned to Londonist for the zingiest cabaret recommendations in town.
