Book, poetry and spoken word events in London this week

Wednesday: Poet Najwan Darwish performs alongside oud musician Basel Zayed in a fundraiser for the Palestine Festival of Literature, at the Free Word Centre (£8 / £15 or £50 if you want to donate as well).

Sadakat Kadri talks about the history and reality of shari'a at Lutyens and Rubinstein (7pm, £5).

John Walsh and Nick Cohen discuss censorship at Dulwich Books (8pm, £10).

Nobel Prize for Literature winner 1991 Nadine Gordimer talks about her life and work at the Southbank Centre (7.30pm, £15 / £12).

Thursday: Ruth Padel and Andrew O'Hagan take a look at poetry and migration, at the London Review Bookshop (7pm, £7).

Najwan Darwish is back, this time introducing Palestinian/British author Selma Dabbagh, talking about her novel Out of It at SOAS (7pm, free).

Journalists Colin Freeman, Mary Harper and Richard Hamilton talk about their careers at Dulwich Books (7.30pm, £10).

Dominic Berry and Salena Godden do a spot of stand up poetry with the Bang Said the Gun crew in Southwark (8pm, £5).

Caroline Smailes and Helen Smith join Marie Phillips and Scott Pack for the Firestation Book Swap in Windsor (7.45pm, £5 or free with homemade cake. Bring a book to swap).

Bunny Suicides author Andy Riley is one of the combatants at Literary Death Match: the others are Stewart Home, Rachel Genn and Sophia Blackwell, judged by Nick Harkaway, Greg Stekelman and Wendy Wason (8.15pm, £5 / £8).

Bat Mitzvah speeches you should have made, from Leah Thorn, Jacqueline Nicholls, Lisa Gornick, Oriana Fox and Jane Czyzselska, at the Poetry Cafe (7.30pm, £6 / £8).

Friday: Poets from the Palmers Green and Brondesbury poetry societies come to the Poetry Cafe (7.30pm, free).

Wioletta Grzegorzewska, Tim Atkins, Gabriele Labanauskaite, Marcus Slease and Patrick Coyle are focusing on poetry in translation at the Calvert Gallery (7pm, free).

Saturday: Vanessa Woolf is telling stories at Dulwich Books from 10.30am (free).

The Festival of Dangerous Ideas runs all day at Rich Mix, featuring Paul Mason, Owen Jones, Rob Montgomery, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and Jeremy Corbyn among others (starts 10am, £10 / £5).

Get poetry and short stories from TREMers Theatre Company at the Poetry Cafe (8pm, £3).

Monday: Previous Forward poetry prize winners Seamus Heaney, Jackie Kay, Sebastian Faulks and William Sieghart are at Kings Place in association with Poet in the City (7pm, £9.50).

There're tales of weary travellers at Coffee House Poetry on Old Brompton Road (8pm, £7 / £6).

Hear all about the Titanic at the Royal Society of Literature, with Richard Davenport-Hines and Frances Wilson (6pm, £8 / £5, limited tickets available on the door only).

Tuesday: Join Daniel Everett at the London Review Bookshop to discuss how language is a cultural tool (7pm, £7).
