Preview: An Alternative Ceilidh, 'Reach For The Bunting!'

The Nest Collective has fledged from the Magpie's Nest to continue on the magnificent mission to make folk music cool.

And not just music... London's newest dance craze is about to flutter into life, taking the traditional ceilidh as its starting point, but ripping up the rule book, souping up the music and subverting the dance moves. No experience is necessary - one tradition they're hanging on to is that of having a caller to tell you what to do.

The first 'Reach for the Bunting!' promises carnival recklessness and festival shamelessness, sweat-busting abandon and vigorous behaviour accompanied by the aptly named Ceilidh Liberation Front band. A special guest band brings an Afro-pop flavour to the dancefloor thanks to A J Holmes & The Hackney Empire.

Bag your tickets now, leave the lasers and the tartan at home and get ready to reach for the bunting!

Reach For The Bunting takes place at Islington Town Hall on Saturday 25 February at 7.30pm. Tickets £12 each, group of 4 £40.
