Giant Olympic Rings Float Down Thames

Here's the scene at dawn this morning, as a giant enhooplement of Olympic Rings is towed downriver past HMS Belfast. The stunt marks 150 days to go until the Opening Ceremony.

The massive logo measures 11 metres high and 25 metres wide — about the same size as a pair of flattened New Buses For London (assuming a certain amount of vertical smear). You can view it on the river all day between Battersea and Canary Wharf, passing through Tower Bridge at 1.15 and 6.30pm (webcam). It will then be used as a backdrop to riverside events throughout the Mayor's Summer Like No Other of cultural events, which will tie in with the Games. More on those soon.
