Video: Crisis At Christmas 2011

In its 40th year, Crisis at Christmas welcomed 3,200 guests to its day and residential centres across London, involving 8,000 volunteers to help run services and look after guests over Christmas week. Here's what it was like:

For anyone who's ever dithered about volunteering, read some of the comments left on the Crisis Facebook page:

Amazing!!!! Volunteering, helped and changed ME!

‎3 days, 15 hours travelling, a tank of petrol, 380 miles on the clock and i wouldn't change it for the world... I've learnt lessons about myself, about the strength of human spirit and I've had my faith that people are good restored.

Had such a fab time, shed a few tears but most of all it was the thank you from all the guests that made it all worthwhile. Definitely be back next year.

I got so many thankyous and hugs... I cant believe it's taken me so long to give up my time

My first year volunteering as an Arts and Craft workshop leader with Crisis was so uplifting. Fascinating, lovely warm people - clients and staff.

Wow I had awonderful time helping out in the kitchen... it was my first time and it was real good... I enjoy helping others and hope to do it again next year

If you're inspired, there are plenty of volunteering opportunities with Crisis all year round and they always need your donations.
