This Is Not A Pop-Up Returns to Southbank Centre

Back in September, the Southbank Centre thumbed their noses to the pop-up trend with a pop-up temporary concession in the Hayward Gallery shop, called This Is Not A Pop-Up.

Its aim was to highlight the work of exciting designers, host funky events, and generally encourage people to part with their cash in return for gorgeous things.

It was a success; so they’re doing it again. This time around, This Is Not A Pop-Up will be run by NoBrow, and independent publishing / design organisation, offering sexy, tactile illustrated books, collectable objets d’art and fantastic limited edition prints. Think comics, graphic novels, amazing illustrations and plenty of monsters.

Look out for leather iPad and iPhone cases and Oyster card holders featuring NoBrow designs, and Big Mother #2, a large artist's monograph publication by Belgian artist and illustrator Sam Vanallemeersch. (You can meet Sam on 14 January, between 2.30 and 4.30 to get a signed copy of the book.)

Events-wise, two artists will be making a huge collaborative drawing between 10 and 14 January, and there’ll be a family-friendly Monster Puppet Workshop aimed at kids (aged 7 upwards) on 21 January, headed by young illustrator and NoBrow artist Liam Barrett.

This Is Not A Pop-Up is at the Hayward Gallery Shop from 10 to 29 January. The shop’s open every day between 12 and 6pm. Visit www.southbankcentre.co.uk to find out more.
