London Stand Up And Sketch Comedy: 22-28 January

Where to find funny next week

Sunday: Round the weekend off with mysterious tales from Storytellers' Club at the Pleasance (8pm, £8 / £6). John Finnemore, Wil Hodgson, James Dowdeswell and the excellent, excellent Doc Brown join Sarah Bennetto.

Monday: It's the start of Frank Skinner and Friends, two weeks of fantastic line-ups at the Noel Coward Theatre (8pm, £16 + booking fee). Tonight you've got Carl Donnelly, James Acaster, Pete Firman and Jay Foreman, but you can look forward to Richard Herring, Russell Kane, Roisin Conaty, Al Murray, Doc Brown and Brendon Burns to name but a few.

Tuesday: Alexei Sayle also has friends round, this time to the Soho Theatre. With Josie Long, Simon Munnery and Bridget Christie on the bill, expect some serious leftfield comedy (7.45pm, £15 / £12.50).

Wednesday: Part of the joy of Pappy's is a certain amount of ramshackle (plus watching them corpse), so a work in progress show just ups the ante. Go to Leicester Square Theatre for developing sketches (8.30pm, £7 / £5).

Thursday: Crack Comedy in Islington is the pick of tonight's club gigs: Zoe Lyons headlines, with stand up and radio bloke Steve N Allen and Elrich McElroy (8.30pm, £7 / £4).

Friday: Doc Brown is back for Bush Hall Presents, where Milton Jones headlines with Andy Zaltzman and Andrew Maxwell (7.30pm, £16.50).

Saturday: Part of Southbank Centre's DeathFest (or, to give it its Sunday name, Festival for the Living) Sandi Toksvig presents a Memorial Lecture, poking fun at death (7.30pm, £20 / £15).
