Things To Do In London On The Cheap: 12-18 December

Monday: A winter garden grotto opens on top of Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank today, open from 11am-8pm (free entry).

Tuesday: Acoustic jazz quintet, Man Overboard play a gig at the Kings Head Theatre pub, Upper Street, Islington from 8pm with 20s, 30s and 40s swing (free).

Wednesday: Free music courtesy of the December Sessions at The O2 with a Last FM curated line up in the Piazza tonight from 4-9pm (free).

Thursday: The entertainment is free and funny at the Camden Head in Angel tonight from 8pm (free entry).

And why haven't you tried Hip Hop Karaoke at The Social yet? from 6pm-1am (free entry).

Friday: Sounds like the Frat Party Christmas Late Night Special may get messy at the Macbeth, Hoxton from 7pm (free entry).

Saturday: Rummage in the New Gallery Jumble in Peckham for 'up-cycled, re-purposed or second hand things in the form of quality hand crafted creations' (free entry, bargains to be had).

It's the Winter Lindy Hop at the Royal Festival Hall from midday for performances, cabaret, workshops and infectious music all afternoon (free).

Alternative Christmas at Rich Mix is a festive festival with a Christmas market, cheap seasonal films, workshops, performance and a community meal for just £1 from midday till late (free entry).

Sunday: Brixton People's Kitchen launches in Myatt's Fields Park from 3-6pm - help make or eat the joyful stew (free).

The Christmas Emporium Christmas Market at Village Underground is bought to you by the Secret Garden Party people so expect some surprises as well as Christmas treats (free entry).
