Three excellent reasons to visit Chelsea Physic Garden in the next fortnight:
1. It's usually shut in December
2. The admission fee is waived for winter
3. The gift shop opens for gardening gifts and goodies
If it's the botanical garden that you're interested in, it's a rare opportunity to peruse the apothecary beds at this time of year and see the more exotic ferns and carnivourous plants plus tropical and mediterranean species grown in the glasshouses.
We highly recommend lunch at the Tangerine Dream café which serves up wonderful homemade, healthy and delicious food which will have a seasonally festive bent for the fortnight.
Chelsea Physic Garden will be open for 'Festive Shopping Days' between Monday 5 - Friday 9 December and Monday 12 - Friday 16 December, 10am-4pm. Admission is free via the entrance at 66 Royal Hospital Road, SW3.
After this special fortnight, the Garden will close until its Snowdrop Days in February 2012.
