Santa's Lap: London Tales

Every day until Christmas we will be pointing you in the direction of a Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won’t already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we’ll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings…

For the coffee table and bookshelves of the Londoner who loves London books, London Tales is a special addition.

Not only is it drawn and written by Greg Stekelman – AKA The Man Who Fell Asleep and one of the only tweeters worth reading during X-Factor – but it's published by the brand new Timeline Books, brainchild of the very excellent Simon at the very wonderful Big Green Bookshop in Wood Green.

When Stekelman's original publisher folded, he bought up 300 copies of his own first book A Year In The Life of The Man Who Fell Asleep, stumbled into Simon's shop and struck up a friendship. They sold the remaining copies together and when they were all gone, an attempt to rewrite and reissue the book evolved into the birth of the new publishing company and a whole new thing, London Tales – 100 London illustrations and tales in book form.

Buy London Tales from the Big Green Bookshop priced £40. A strictly limited number of 250 beautifully produced, hardback collectors items are available, all signed and numbered.

Check out our list of jolly Christmas markets and fairs and raid the Santa's Lap archives for more inspiration.
