Next week, the London History Festival (14-24 November) comes to Kensington Central Library and Waterstone's Kensington. Well-known names such as Simon Sebag Montefiore, Claire Tomalin and Max Hastings will discuss their pet subjects, over the 10-day festival.
The programme is decidedly topical. In the shadow of the Euro crisis, Norman Davies discusses the history of power politics in Europe. Following Remembrance Day, Max Hastings talks about the hell of WWII. And on the eve of the Dickens bicentenary, the author's latest biographer, Claire Tomalin, discusses his life. Other highlights include Leo Hollis on the buildings of London, a talk on the history of women and literature, and a panel debate called 'What is History?'.
