Apart from fame and fortune, what connects Peter Blake, Terence Conran, Colin Firth, Geraldine James, James Dyson, Simon Callow and Gareth Pugh? They're all alumni of Central St Martin's, the over-achieving college of the arts that recently consolidated and relocated to the King's Cross Granary Building.

A new exhibition, round the corner at Kings Place Gallery, presents portraits of 30 spectacularly successful graduates and former staff of the college, all painted by Janet Lance Hughes. It's a refreshingly straightforward, accessible exhibition to celebrate a new beginning for this great institution. When you're done, pop over to the Granary Building itself. The ground floor and rear yard of this impressive Victorian conversion are public spaces and worthy of a visit.

Line of Influence: Portraits of Central Saint Martins runs 2 December-10 February at Kings Place Gallery. Entrance is free.
