Music Preview: CLoSer @ Village Underground

This is a sponsored post on behalf of City of London Sinfonia

City of London Sinfonia (CLS), one of the UK’s leading orchestras, launch their new informal concert series CLoSer, which invites audiences to get up close to the music and musicians in an informal setting with a glass of wine in their hand.

CLoSer will walk audiences through the ‘behind-the-scenes’ aspects of orchestra performance, showing how the problematic sections of a piece are conquered by a conductor and how a musician prepares for a piece. The concerts will also introduce audiences to some of the best classical music from the 20th Century and offer an opportunity to mingle with CLS musicians.

Each concert lasts 75 minutes with no interval, and the first concert starts with modern strings classics featuring John Adams’ popular Shaker Loops, Gordon Jacob’s Clarinet Concertino and Bartok’s spirited and joyful Divertimento for Strings, with world renowned soloist Michael Collins on clarinet and conducting.

The first CLoSer: Strings Masterclass is on Tuesday 22 November at Village Underground, Shoreditch. Tickets: £15 (includes a free drink); concessions available.
Box office: online or call 020 7377 1362. There will be a cash bar available throughout the concert. Doors open 6.45pm.
