Preview: First Direct Dialogue Festival

This might be the best line-up we've seen for a festival in some time. How do you fancy catching Adam Buxton's BUG, Festival of the Spoken Nerd, Richard Herring, Josie Long, Robin Ince, Tim Key, John Cooper Clarke, Francesca Martinez and John Hegley at the start of November?

Yes, it's been devised by first direct, but if all corporate sponsorship was this interesting the arts scene would be a damn sight more vibrant. Each day has a theme and a curator who will introduce events at the three Notting Hill venues. Kids get a look in on Saturday afternoon, when they can put their parents on trial, play with magnetic poetry and have a crack at stand up comedy.

There's a good mix of stuff, from solo shows by comedians to imports of successful nights elsewhere (Literary Death Match, Aisle 16 poets) by way of debates and discussions: has technology killed the art of conversation? Can music still change the world? And we're really look forward to seeing Richard Herring and Josie Long debating in tweets.

The first direct Dialogue Festival takes place 2nd-5th November at St Peter's on Kensington Park Road, Under the Westway at 242 Acklam Road and The Earl of Portobello at 36 Golborne Road. Tickets £10 / £5 / free.
