Olympic Hockey Pitch Unveiled

The first of the striking blue and pink hockey pitches on the Olympic Park was presented to the world yesterday. This competition pitch will be used for Olympic Hockey and Paralympic 5 and 7-a-side football.

It's the first time the colour combination has been used - rather than the normal green - at an Olympics and has the benefit for organisers of looking like an extension of the 2012 branding (that's no ordinary blue and pink, that's London Blue and London Pink) as well as making the ball easier to see, for players and spectators.

The Hockey Centre is a temporary venue on the Olympic Park. After the Games it will be dismantled and elements transferred to Eton Manor which will offer multi-purpose sport and leisure facilities including the two jolly hockey pitches.

The Hockey test event will take place in May 2012.
