New London Websites: Scout London and Peasoup Magazine

A big, warm, digitally mustered hello to a couple of new(ish) websites about the capital. Scout London and Peasoup Magazine both deserve your eyeball time.

Scout London has nothing to do with the Scouts, but we like the turn of its woggle. The online magazine offers a tasty spread of London news and happenings. Londonist readers may well feel an affinity for the content, which includes plenty of alt.London articles ('Skyline Crimes: Wandsworth Roundabout', 'London's Secret Cash Machines'...). Intriguingly, the 'About' text at the bottom hints at a print version in the new year. For now, you'll also find Scout London on Facebook and Twitter @ScoutLondon.

Peasoup Magazine is a little different. Named after the murky London fogs of yore, the virescent website seeks to penetrate the haze with clear and thoughtful writing on a monthly topic. The recent London riots form the latest theme. You'll find interviews and essays a-plenty, digging into the causes and consequences of the riots, including a discussion with Pauline Pearch, the Hackney resident who was famously captured on video standing up to the looters. Previous issues of this not-for-profit have tackled privacy, internships, the Tube, the Monarchy and food waste. Next month: homelessness. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter @PeaSouperHero.
