Tonight: rock/hip-hop group Why? are at Union Chapel with Serengeti. Brooklyn rock band We Are Augustines are at Koko with Glasvegas.

Tuesday: lo-fi indie rockers Real Estate are at the Garage. Singer-songwriter Sam Brookes is at the Borderline.

Wednesday: noiseniks Three Trapped Tigers are at the Garage and if you're lucky enough to have grabbed a ticket, lovely Laura Marling plays Westminster Central Hall.

Thursday: electronic Aussies Cut Copy are at the Roundhouse and there's the Oxjam Rude Mechanicals Punk Cabaret gig at The Victoria in Dalston with 'all female post punk rock outfit' Gertrude.

Friday: kick off Halloween a few days early with the Halloween Massacre Ball at Hidden Club in Vauxhall. Headlining is New York's Cerebral Ballzy.

Saturday: garage rockers the Jim Jones Revue are at Shepherds Bush Empire.

This weekend: catch the Arctic Monkeys on Saturday and Sunday at the O2 Arena. They're joined by brash young upstarts Smith Westerns.

Sunday: hardcore goths Funeral for a Friend at the Roundhouse.
