London Stand Up And Sketch Comedy: 30 October-5 November

Our pick of where to find funny next week

Sunday: There's still a handful of seats left for Live at the Lyric, Richard Herring's monthly comedy night in Hammersmith. Headlining? Stewart Lee. Excuse us for a moment as we drift off into a Fist of Fun reverie... Josie Long and Sarah Kendall are the just-as-exciting other performers (8pm, £20 / £15).

Monday: Laughing Boy Comedy Club this week has a line-up of those people you'll have seen on TV but might have difficulty putting a name to (for now). Jon Richardson, Josh Widdicombe, Seann Walsh, Sara Pascoe and Paul Chowdhry. See them now, before it costs you a sodding fortune (7.30pm, £4).

Tuesday: This month's Distraction Club is a cracker: Lenny Beige, Dan Antopolski, Rachel Parris, the highly recommended Segue Sisters and Matt Blair join Mitch Benn and the Distractions at the Phoenix on Cavendish Square (8pm, £7.50). If you can't get in, head to Bloomsbury Theatre on Saturday for the full Distractions show (7.30pm, £15 / £13).

Wednesday: Not all comedy takes place in zone 1 or 2: Brendon Burns is warming up for his DVD recording of 'Y’Know - Love ‘n’ God ‘n’ Metaphysics ‘n’ Shit' at Ruislip's Comedy Bunker (8.45pm, £10).

Thursday: It's character comedy a-go-go at the 100 Club as Barry from Watford runs a bingo night, with able help from Angelos Epithemiou (7pm, £10).

Friday: The excellent Lady Garden sketch comedy lasses are at the Leicester Square Theatre with some of their friends. They have impressive friends: Phill Jupitus, Isy Suttie, Nick Mohammed, Jonny Sweet and Pappy's (9.30pm, £15 / £13).

Saturday: If you don't fancy seeing Mitch Benn (see Tuesday) tonight, we also thoroughly recommend making a beeline for the Union Chapel. David O'Doherty's musical whimsy headlines with Peter Serafinowicz, Pete Firman and Holly Walsh also on the bill. Elis James is your MC (7.45pm, £16 + booking fee).
