Here's our pick of the new dance, opera, theatre shows and exhibitions opening this week
Some Like It Hip Hop is the latest funky, comic dance show from ZooNation, and opens at the Peacock Theatre tonight. Clod Ensemble – An Anatomie in Four Quarters plays at Sadler’s Wells for three nights from Friday.
Our opera highlight for the week is the Placido Domingo Celebration at the Royal Opera House: two celebrations of the great tenor’s work on Thursday and Sunday this week.
Theatre: Tonight is the opening night of Mike Bartlett’s new play, 13 at the National, which we'll review for your pleasure tomorrow. Also opening tonight is Shalom Baby at the Theatre Royal in Stratford East.
The Last of the Duchess opens at Hampstead Theatre tomorrow, offering a different take on the life of Wallis Simpson from Madonna's latest flick; Speechless also opens at the Arcola Theatre tomorrow, looking at the secret destructive world of two sisters. From Thursday, Ghetto Klown is the latest Broadway hit making the trip across the pond to the Charing Cross theatre; and Skåne at Hampstead Theatre looks at the impact of uninhibited love.
Exhibitions: A new, permanent gallery opens at the V&A today: Photographs Gallery is the slightly clunky new name for the new area, which extends the space dedicated to photographs at the museum, and includes an incredible survey of photographic history.
William Morris: Story, Memory, Myth is the new, free show at London's newest art venue: Two Temple Place. It opens on Thursday. All Work and Low Pay: The Story of Women and Work is the latest display at the Women’s Library, opening on Friday. Also opening on Friday is War Story: Serving in Afghanistan at the Imperial War Museum.
At the Royal Academy of Arts from Saturday is Building the Revolution: Soviet Art and Architecture 1915-1935: a study of unique avant-garde Russian architecture.
Last Chance To See: London Shows Closing
Closing on Saturday is Bunny at the Soho Theatre; Kalashnikov at Theatre 503; the Killing of Sister George at the Arts Theatre; Mixed Marriage at the Finborough; The River Line at the Jermyn Street Theatre; Sixty-Six Books at the Bush Theatre; The Taming of the Shrew at the Southwark Playhouse; The Tempest at the Theatre Royal Haymarket; and Top Girls at the Trafalgar Studios.
Sunday is the final performance of The Importance of Being Earnest at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.
Two family-friendly museum shows that close on Sunday are Once Upon a Wartime at the Imperial War Museum, and Pirates: The Captain Kidd Story at the Museum of London Docklands.
