Take A Look Inside An Apollo Moon Capsule

One of the Science Museum's greatest treasures – arguably the greatest treasure – is its Apollo 10 command module. The conical craft flew round the moon in 1969, just months before Neil, Buzz and Mike's historic mission in Apollo 11. As far as we're aware, it's the only once-manned spacecraft on permanent show in the UK.

This Friday (19 August), the Museum will open the hatch, offering visitors a rare chance to peer inside the cramped capsule, which was home to three astronauts for much of the moon trip. The capsule opening forms part of the museum's Spend Summer in Space initiative, which links together its spacey holdings with curator talks and events. Head down to the museum any time from 10am to see inside the vehicle.
