Music Preview: Newham Under The Stars

Salsa nation kept the crowds entertained with salsa classes throughout the night.
Four nights of free musical entertainment start tonight in Central Park, East Ham.

Tonight, it's Jazz in the Park with Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra, Claire Martin and legendary saxophonist, Courtney Pine.

Friday is Eastern Beats with Asian music stars and Bollywood dancers and Saturday is Newham Rocks You with a Queen tribute act.

Finally, Sunday sees the Summertime Proms concert with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra playing well known film music and bringing you flag-waving prom classics, like Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory plus a firework finale. Newham Youth Choir will be on hand to entertain during the interval.

Gates open at 6.30pm each day and it's free entry. There will be a festival set up with fairground rides and plenty of food stalls. The event takes place on the grass in Central Park so we suggest you pack some bin bags and an anorak, brollies and a thermos just in case.
