It's a big week for festivals around the UK but for those of you keeping close to London, here a list of gigs to keep an eye on:

Tonight: Cafe Oto participates in worldwide charity gig Project Fukushima with experimental music luminaries, The Hauntological Orchestra.

Tuesday: Canadian singer-songwriter Chad VanGaalen is at Cargo in support of his guitar-driven new album, Diaper Island.

Wednesday: Hyde and Beast (featuring David Hyde of the Futureheads) make their London debut at the Social.

Thursday: American indie rock band Other Lives are at the Lexington ahead of the release of their latest album, Tamer Animals.

Friday: The Unicorn reopens with forward thinking prog rockers Thumpermonkey headlining a free gig.

Saturday: neo soul titans the Roots are at Hammersmith Apollo.
