Street Art: Giant Stik In Hackney Wick

Coinciding with the Hackney WickED festival, street artist Stik is painting what must be his largest piece yet. The willowy figure can be found next to the Films on Fridges pop-up cinema on the Fish Island area of Hackney Wick. To get a good view, head up to the roof terrace in Forman’s Smokehouse gallery. While there, be sure to check out the small but special I Am Braziliality exhibition, which contains paintings, photographs and sculpture inspired by Brazilian culture (including three pieces by colourful street artist Milo Tchais).

Now re-read that paragraph, and contemplate how the area has changed in the past few years.

See our map of Stik’s work (perhaps a little out-of-date…do leave a comment if you know of new pieces).

  • Help

Have you ever thought you could help someone? You do not think you have the time or money to change the world? It is a wrong way to think together we can make someone’s life better. Yes, you should not give thousands of dollars, think of an amount that you could miss one day, let’s say 1.5 euro. Do you think a small amount, you think he does not even deserve to hit the donation button? What can you buy with this amount? Not even an ice cream, a pack of cigarettes or coffee. You give up coffee for a poor to buy bread? I did. Others have done it. In this way we could help someone to pay rates on the bank and not lose the house. That made me feel like a hero. There are so many people who need help, many of them are too proud to ask for and accept pity. But there are many who have no alternative, and our goodness is their last hope.
Yes, you too can be a hero, you can help the cause by donating a small amount of money, an amount that no matter how you spend it on something useless. Or look in the closet, how many clothes you will not wear them again? These clothes could wear them someone who is cold. Think about it! Together we can help! Or you can close this window and continue your life without thinking about those who are desperate. Close your eyes to the mess by saying it’s not your problem. Or be one of the heroes who change the world. You choose!

If you are in a precarious situation and need help, send an e-mail to help_cause1@yahoo.com and your story will appear on this blog. Do not forget that there is no shame to ask for help, it is a shame to look indifferent to others’ problems. Let’s be united and show compassion to those who have reached a crisis situation!
