Preview: Shoreditch Festival, Regent's Canal And Beyond

Regent's Canal will be the focus of a weekend of free, live celebration for Shoreditch Festival 2011.

Take to the towpath this Saturday and Sunday between E8 and N1 for a flick at the floating cinema and DJs on a floating stage. Board the BookBarge, the classroom boat or gawp at the acrobats on the circus boat. Courtesy of Barbican there's a puppet show about a compost heap, vagrants afloat with musical saws, juggling, real life Punch and Judy, giant lobsters, letter writing and much amazing more.

Nose into the gardens along the waterway and you can play table tennis, try complementary therapies or do some crafty things. Importantly, there'll be a garden cafe for those cups of tea and slices of cake whilst you decide what to do next.

The following weekend sees the return of the much loved Shoreditch Bark Dog Show in Shoreditch Park, an unusual urban treasure hunt, Olympic sports in Haggerston Park and a celebration of music hall at Hoxton Hall, including a free 'Theatres of Shoreditch' walk, a flea market and a special performance (£6).

Shoreditch Festival live canal weekend happens 16-17 July between 1-10pm along Regent's Canal and it's all free. Floating cinema is open all week on the canal and the festival continues till Sunday 24 July.

Like them on Facebook for previews of events and clips of bands playing.
