New Lottery Money For London Parks

As Ealing Summer Festivals get underway this week, the main host, Walpole Park, gets welcome news of £2.4m in lottery money from Heritage Lottery Fund.

The grant will be used to restore the park to its original beauty, recreating Regency planting and reinstating the kitchen garden as well as improving visitor facilities.

Raphael Park in Romford, probably the best park in Havering, also receives £1.7m for essential conservation work, a new cafe and park manager base.

Other parks have been given boosts of confidence with development grants that will enable them to work up proper applications for large-scale projects and they are West Hackney Recreation Ground, Alexandra Road Park in Camden and Plashet Park in Newham.

Watch out for events happening in your local park for Love Parks Week, 23-31 July.
