New Images Of "Baby Shard"

The developer of 'Baby Shard', the diminutive offspring of the Shard at London Bridge, has released a batch of new computer renders showing how the finished building, blandly named The Place, will look.

Son of Shard (as we hope it'll be nicknamed) is a 17-storey office block, designed by the same architect, Renzo Piano, as its loftier neighbour. It sits on the site of New London Bridge House, an unloved slab of Richard Seifert-designed 60s Brutalism that was demolished in 2009. The building was approved some years back (Londonist reported it as far back as 2005). It should be completed in 2013, a year after the Shard, and will form part of what planners, in their wisdom, have dubbed 'London Bridge Quarter', which will also include the eponymous station, itself being heavily remodelled.

There are more images on the developer's Flickr stream.
