London Stand Up And Sketch Comedy: 10-16 July

Our choice of where to find funny this week

Sunday: Performance poet Kat Francois performs her first full comedy show at Theatre Royal Stratford East today and tomorrow (7.30pm, £12 / £10). There's a thin line between poetry and comedy these days, we reckon this will be great.

Monday: We did tell you, and we will keep on telling you, that if you want to see Festival of the Spoken Nerd you have to book ahead. And one day we'll get off our arses and heed our own advice. Console yourselves with Edinburgh previews from Tom Price at the Etcetera Theatre (7.30pm, £6.50), David Reed at Leicester Square Theatre (9pm, £8 / £6) or Andrew Lawrence and Imran Yusuf at The Good Ship (8pm, £5).

Tuesday: There's a double bill of David O'Doherty previews at Invisible Dot - first, his usual stand-up and musical whimsy, then Antarctic explorer Rory Sheridan, visiting from 1917 (7.30pm, £9, there's a free barbeque). Or maybe we'll see you at Hen and Chickens for The Brandreth Papers (9.30pm, £6.50).

Wednesday: The other night we heard the continuity announcer on Dave call Red Dwarf a "cult comedy". We ranted at the TV for about five minutes. See Norman Lovett previewing his Edinburgh show at The Railway Tavern, and also the brilliant Bridget Christie (8pm, £10 / £8).

Thursday: Lyrical genius Dylan Moran is at the Hammersmith Apollo until Saturday (7pm, £25 / £20). We know some people complain that his material's not what it once was, but the man has a way with words we've yet to see beaten.

Friday: The Suitcase Royale are an Aussie trio who combine comedy, theatre and music - their run of last year's Edinburgh show, The Ballad of Backbone Joe, at the Soho Theatre is almost over, so head down there now to catch it (7.30pm, £15 / £12.50).

Saturday: If you heard John Finnemore tearing News International a new one on yesterday's Now Show, you might be interested in seeing a preview for his Radio 4 sketch show at The Albany (8pm, £6). He told us about it a couple of weeks back, you know.
